Cartier have been present in Bond Street for many years, but a decision was taken by them to develop and implement a new design concept for a different market sector to that served by their earlier boutique.
Stephen Mitchell and Bernard Price acted on this project, in which we undertook the Project Management, Cost Consultancy and Planning Supervision roles. We assembled a team of consultants to design those parts of the scheme not detailed by Cartier’s French concept architect, and managed all technical and financial aspects of the project from beginning to end.
Intense negotiation with the Local Authority Planning Department was successfully managed by us resulting in permission to impose a radical design to the front elevation in this Conservation Area.
Extensive structural engineering utilising composite steel / timber beams formed part of the project because the scheme involved the use of very heavy fittings which were imposed on a 150 year-old building.
Since the completion of the project, Cartier have appointed us in a similar role on two further boutiques.
